A top official at the Bank of England has said the “jury is still out” on the number of City jobs that will be lost to the EU due to Brexit.
Sam Woods, a deputy governor who leads the bank’s Prudential Regulation Authority, told the House of Lords European affairs committee yesterday that the movement of bankers to the continent had so far been “manageable” but had not been a “non-event”.
His comments come amid speculation that the European Central Bank could force international lenders to shift more of their employees into the bloc.
