Joules owes landlords millions after Next rescue

More than £100m is owed by Joules to landlords, clothing suppliers and the holders of gift cards in the wake of the retailer’s collapse.

The fashion and lifestyle retailer, which fell into administration last year after it was unable to repay a bank loan, was bought out of administration by Next and founder Tom Joule in a £34m deal.

The retailer’s 100 stores were saved, but £112m is still owed to unsecured creditors, according to the latest administrator’s progress report. At least £3.8m is owed to landlords.
