Neil Bowler, a director of leisure and healthcare consultancy Jenics, has died while taking part in a charity bike ride.
Bowler, 52, had been participating in the Jenics-sponsored Great Hotel Bike Ride from London to Manchester when he died on 8 October.
During his 30-year career in property, he specialised in hotels, leisure and retail property.
He began his career at Hillier Parker before moving north to establish its Manchester office in the mid 1990s.
He also worked at retail specialist Mason Owen, where he helped to develop a leisure department, before subsequently joining King Sturge in Manchester to set up a North West leisure team.
Bowler joined Manchester-based Jenics in 2000, which took on clients including Travelodge and Greene King.
A statement from Jenics said: “Many successful operators and developers benefited from Neil’s insight, advice and personal approach.
“Those that knew him, will testify he was the archetypal ‘hail fellow well met’, gregarious and simply one who exuded passion, energy and confidence in everything he did.”
Outside the office, Bowler was a committed endurance cyclist and successful Ironman competitor.
Bowler is survived by his wife Rachel and their daughters, aged 13 and 11.
