ITV heads for White City in office downsize

ITV will relocate to the BBC’s Broadcast Centre in White City, west London, in a move which will bring its 2,000 staff to the same office for the first time. The FTSE 100 broadcaster has taken 120,000 sq ft of space on a 13-year lease from the BBC, as part of plans to reduce its office space over the coming years in order to cut costs. ITV employees will start moving to the site in 2022. They are currently split between locations at Waterhouse Square near Chancery Lane, 200 Gray’s Inn Road in Clerkenwell and the WestWorks in White City, from where many of its shows are broadcast. As part of the plans, ITV intends to shift towards a hybrid working model, meaning fewer people will need to be on site at any one time. It comes as the BBC prepares to leave the site and move teams based there to its remaining London properties, including other buildings in White City and in the West End. ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall said: “Our people have made it really clear to us that they want to build on the positive aspects of their experience over the past 18 months to have a more balanced approach to office-based and remote working. “That balance will vary from team to team given the kind of work we do, and we know that face-to-face collaboration is crucial for creativity and innovation – we’re looking forward to this new hybrid way of working.” She added: “Our new office will bring everyone from ITV in London together and will provide the size and flexibility to enable everyone to perform their roles and help ITV deliver on its strategy, as well as [allowing staff to] get the balance they want in their lives.” To send feedback, e-mail alex.daniel@eg.co.uk or tweet @alexmdaniel or @EGPropertyNews
