Images unveiled for £1bn Essex regen scheme

The joint venture between Urban Catalyst and Swan Housing Association has unveiled further images showing its £1bn plans for Purfleet-on-Thames town centre. Indicative plans for the site include a new train station and a 1m sq ft media village, which will include TV studios and up to 2,850 new homes, as well as shops, restaurants, a medical centre and a primary school. Last month, the government announced it was pledging £75m to support the redevelopment as part of the Housing Infrastructure Fund following planning consent being achieved for the first phase in January. The first phase will include 61 family homes, a children’s play area, and an orchard walk. Preliminary works are anticipated to start on site later in 2020.
