Hub’s Maidenhead ‘house of wood’ office approved
Hub and Norwegian family-owned investor Smedvig have received planning approval from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for a six-storey timber office building in Maidenhead town centre.
The scheme will provide more than 65,000 sq ft of office space as part of the wider mixed-use One Maidenhead scheme, which was previously known as The Landing.
The Trehus office block, which is Norwegian for “house of wood”, will be the first building of its kind in Maidenhead and the wider Thames Valley.

The Trehus office block, which is Norwegian for “house of wood”, will be the first building of its kind in Maidenhead and the wider Thames Valley.
It has a timber superstructure and is targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating. Hub and Smedvig are aiming to begin construction later this year, with a view to delivering the completed scheme by the end of 2026.
Hub submitted plans for the Waugh Thistleton-designed building in November 2023.
The 3.5-acre mixed-use One Maidenhead scheme also includes 36,000 sq ft of ground-floor shops and restaurants over four buildings, public realm and 429 build-to-rent homes, owned and managed by Get Living.
Victoria Manston, development director at Hub, said: “Trehus will be a brilliant addition to Maidenhead town centre, providing much-needed high-quality office space in an inherently sustainable building. The use of timber will create an elegant addition to the streetscape, as well as a calm and comforting environment for its workers.
“As the first phase of One Maidenhead completes, we are excited to see this new neighbourhood come to life, welcoming new residents, providing new amenities to the local community and supporting the local economy. Securing planning approval for Trehus is an important next step on this journey, and we look forward to continuing work with our project partners to turn our vision into a reality.”
Trehus is represented by joint agents Savills and Hollis Hockley.
