Private housing is propping up the construction sector with confidence in the market at a six-year low, according to research.
Twenty-one per cent of contributors to a quarterly construction survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors reported a rise in workloads in private housing.
The number of those reporting a rise in workloads across the industry was 9%, the lowest net balance for six years.
