House of Fraser to anchor new Solihull shopping centre
House of Fraser is about to take a prelet on a 9,476 sq m (102,000 sq ft) department store in the Touchwood Court shopping centre, Solihull, West Midlands, at £64.59 per sq m (£6 per sq ft).
Terms are agreed and a deal is in solicitors hands,confirmed Peter Courtney of sole letting agents Lunson Mitchenall. He said: “Contracts should be exchanged in late May.”
Lunson Mitchenall represents developers Civic Shopping Centres, a joint venture between Midland companies IM Properties and Gracemount Developments. The £90m scheme, which has planning consent, will be built off the High Street and opposite Mell Square

House of Fraser’s store will anchor the 27,780 sq m (300,000 sq ft) centre, which is expected to open in September 1999. In addition to the department store, the scheme will also comprise two 2,415 sq m (26,000 sq ft) variety stores, 70 shops, restaurants and offices, as well as 1,100 car parking spaces. Construction work is expected to start next year.
