Hotelier offers compromise in planning row

Hotelier Surinder Arora is offering to rip down a derelict mansion if he can keep a five-star hotel next door that has broken planning rules.

Arora built the Fairmont Windsor Park hotel in Surrey with an extra wing and multiple extensions and has been ordered by Runnymede Borough Council to tear down either all or part of it so that it matches the approved design.

Instead, he has offered to knock down the mansion on the neighbouring Parkwood Estate, which he also owns, and refrain from building a new luxury home on the plot.
