A British hedge fund has increased its stake in Carpetright to just under 30%, the point at which it would have to make a takeover offer.
Meditor Capital Management, already Carpetright’s largest shareholder, has increased its stake from 16.47% to 29.99%, according to regulatory filings.
It is thought to have bought most of the shares from Franklin Templeton, an American investment manager and another investor to slash its holding in Carpetright, from 15.95% to 1.69%.
