Heathrow will look for sites near factories in the North, Midlands and Scotland to help deliver as much pre-built construction material to the airport as possible by rail, Wilbraham said.
The sheds will be comparable in size to the 44,000 sq ft Colnbrook logistics centre near Heathrow. Prestwick Airport outside Glasgow is being considered.
Logistics provider Wilson James’s director for Heathrow, John Spottiswood, said planning advisers and agents have yet to be appointed.
