Hammerson has become the latest blue-chip business to admit to a sharp gender pay gap, reporting that its female staff are paid on average 47.1% less than their male counterparts.
The FTSE 100 shopping centre company, led by David Atkins (pictured), also became the latest company to blame its wider-than-average gender pay gap on its male employees occupying the majority of senior management jobs.
It insisted that it was committed to reducing its pay gap “over time” by recruiting more women and promoting a greater number internally.
