Grosvenor names first sustainability head

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland has named its first director of sustainability and innovation, tasking its former head of placemaking with overseeing its environmental strategy.

Tor Burrows will lead the company’s efforts to hit its environmental goals for 2030, including becoming net zero carbon and zero waste, as well as increasing biodiversity within its communities.

She has worked at the business for almost a decade, most recently as director of placemaking. Her past roles included leading the asset management programme for the Mayfair estate and working as head of strategy for Grosvenor Britain & Ireland.

Burrows’ new role is the first appointment under James Raynor, the new chief executive of Grosvenor Britain & Ireland.

“Climate change is the single biggest risk to our business today and we need to transform the way we do business to meet that challenge,” Raynor said. “Tor understands Grosvenor exceptionally well, having worked in different roles across the estate for nearly 10 years. Her proven ability to lead change on the ground and get a host of different stakeholders bought in to a common goal will be crucial to us going zero-carbon, zero-waste and ensuring we are fit for the future.”

Raynor stepped into his post last week, some nine months earlier than expected, after the surprise departure of Craig McWilliam from the group. McWilliam had been expected to become group chief executive in 2021.
