Greenhalgh was previously London’s deputy mayor for policing and crime, between 2012 and 2016, under Boris Johnson.
During this period he focused on budgetary challenges and holding the Metropolitan Police to account. From 2008 he also oversaw an audit of City Hall finances and headed the Conservative Councils Innovation Unit.
Prior to this he was leader of Hammersmith & Fulham Council from 2006. He introduced a 24-hour council-funded police service and claims to have cut council tax five times.
