Gravity takes space at Westfield Stratford
Gravity Active Entertainment has signed for 60,000 sq ft of space for a new leisure concept at Westfield Stratford City, marking its third big-box location in the UK.
The leisure operator will invest £10m in the concept. Landlord Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield will design and build the space, which is expected to open in early 2023.
The concept will include its first e-karting offering, consisting of two tracks that can either be operated separately or combined into a “super track” accommodating up to 18 drivers. This will measure more than 300m in length.

In addition, the site will have its own urban golf, AR darts, high rope course, arcade, three bars, street food and karaoke space. It will also host other providers of leisure experiences such as Electric Gamebox and VR attraction Hologate.
This is Gravity’s third large opening, with a location at Southside Wandsworth already open and another at Liverpool One set to open in Q4 2022.
Harvey Jenkinson, co-founder and chief executive of Gravity, said: “There is no doubt that consumer demands have changed, and in order to stay relevant shopping centres and high streets have to diversify and offer a top-quality leisure experience. Westfield Stratford City, with its rich leisure and experience offer, is the perfect location, and we look forward to growing further over the year.”
Kate Orwin, leasing director UK at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said: “Consistently at the forefront of the retail, dining, leisure and entertainment evolution, URW continues to evolve the mix of its flagship destinations beyond retail.”
She added: “As part of this significant investment, Gravity will provide a holistic leisure and entertainment offer, not only for visitors to the centre but also for the residents of more than 1,200 new homes we are building at Stratford.”
