Rebel Conservative MPs, including two former prime ministers, say they will defeat the government over an amendment to the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill.
At least 30 Tory MPs, including Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, are backing an amendment, submitted by former levelling up secretary Simon Clarke, that would force the government to end the ban on new on-shore wind farms.
Labour has said it will back the amendment, meaning only five more Conservative MPs need to rebel to wipe out the government’s majority.
