Glasgow Enlightenment preps for £95m residential scheme

Glasgow Enlightenment is launching the second round of consultations on its plans for a new £95m residential and cultural hub in Glasgow.

A final planning application is due to be submitted in July.

The latest consultation – which will kick off on 30 May at Drygate Village Hall – incorporates changes to the plans based on feedback from the initial consultation plus a number of new aspects.

Changes to Collegelands Park, which is set to deliver 157 built-to-rent flats and a 588-bed purpose-built student accommodation block, include a reduction in overall height of the BTR block, plus stepped down designs on both the residential and student blocks to “create attractive roof terraces with views over the park and to reduce the visual impact of the buildings on the landscape”.

The scheme will be centred around a 2.5-acre park and new arts facility.

The Collegelands regeneration project was launched in 2004 in a bid to bring new homes and opportunities to the Calton area of the city.
