Ghelamco set for resi makeover of Battersea candle factory site
Ghelamco has acquired a 250,500 sq ft former candle factory in Battersea to redevelop into a residential scheme.
Cheyne Capital has signed on as Ghelamco’s funding partner for the project. The developer has also partnered with Wandle Housing Association.
The site’s previous owner Senex Capital acquired planning permission in July 2017 to convert the site into 113 homes, ranging across 25-storeys.

The site’s previous owner Senex Capital acquired planning permission in July 2017 to convert the site into 113 homes, ranging across 25-storeys.
The scheme, known as the HiLight, has been approved by Wandsworth Borough Council and includes leisure amenities such as a cinema, a fitness and wellness studio, a meeting room and workspaces, a sky bar, a sports court, and a rooftop garden.
The HiLight is Ghelamco’s second acquisition in London, following its debut project, the Arc, a mixed-use scheme in Shoreditch.
Ghelamco will start work on the Squire & Partners-designed scheme in Q2 2024.
