George Osborne adds to jobs portfolio with Agnelli link

George Osborne, the former UK chancellor, has added another job to his portfolio. Mr Osborne will chair a partners council that will oversee Exor, the holding company of the Agnelli family.

John Elkann, who runs Exor, is the grandson of Gianni Agnelli, the Italian statesman-industrialist of the 1970s and 1980s.

The €12bn family investment business owns Juventus football club and the car companies Fiat and Ferrari, as well as a range of other businesses, including US reinsurer PartnerRe. It is also the largest shareholder of the Economist magazine and an investor in Mike Hussey’s Almacantar property vehicle.
