Garages prove popular at SDL Auctions sale
SDL Auctions raised more than £8.8m at its most recent sales, with properties ranging from garages to large apartment blocks going under the hammer.
The total raised at three auctions – held in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby – exceeded the amount raised at SDL’s February auctions and saw some enthusiastic bidding, with refurbishment properties attracting a great deal of attention.
In Leicester, 53 Brettell Road, a four-bedroom townhouse, sold for £124,000 from a guide price of £100,00, while 57 Blakesley Walk, a three-bedroom semi on a large plot, sold for £148,000 from a guide price of £120,000.

It was a similar story in Nottingham, where 9 Tennyson Road, a traditional bay-fronted three-bedroom semi in need of improvement, sold for £185,000 from its guide £150,000.
Commercial and development opportunities also proved popular, including plots of land, shops and a block of garages.
The 12 lock-up garages, adjacent to 138 Cambridge Street, Leicester, sold for £160,500 off a guide price of £45,000.
Among the shops going under the hammer were 17 High Street, a three-storey former jewellery shop in Oakham, Leicestershire, which sold for its guide price of £165,000, while a former shop with potential to convert the upstairs to residential use in Burton on Trent, Derby, sold for £99,000 from a guide price of £35,000.
Andrew Parker, managing director and auctioneer at SDL Auctions, said: “Despite some of the stories about the property market struggling in the face of Brexit, we are bucking the trend and business is as brisk as ever.”
SDL Auctions’ next round of auctions take place between 21 and 24 May in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby.
