Frogmore considers change of use for Manchester Corn Exchange

Frogmore could apply to change the use of its 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) Corn Exchange in central Manchester from mixed office/retail to pure retail as efforts continue to make the building safe following damage caused by last month’s bomb.

According to David Roberts, regional director of Bucknall Austin (which has just been appointed to manage the building), Frogmore is currently involved in negotiations with Manchester Council over plans to redesign the city centre.

Roberts said: “It may be that the whole area will change. The traffic junction could give way to a pedestrian area with a Piazza just outside the (Corn) Exchange. As far as I’m aware, Frogmore is keeping all its options open about what to do with it.
