The restaurateur credited with turning Wagamama into one of Britain’s best-performing casual dining brands appears to be repeating the formula at the Bill’s chain.
David Campbell, 59, became its executive chairman last summer and has since returned the business to like-for-like sales growth.
Bill’s was founded in 2000 in the East Sussex town of Lewes by Bill Collison, who remains involved, as a café and fresh produce store. In 2008, when it had only two outlets, it was acquired by Richard Caring, the retail and hospitality tycoon, and it now has 81 restaurants with 3,300 employees.
