Forshaw Land has unveiled plans for a £35m residential-led scheme in Bolton town centre.
The Bolton-based developer has proposed a new-build residential scheme comprising 258 apartments and four town houses.
Proposals also include a private cinema and gym for residents.
The development sits within the Croal Valley intervention zone, on the land fronting St Georges Road between Bark Street and Back Bark Street.
Bolton Council owns the land and Forshaw Group is working in partnership with the council to develop the site. It is the latest site to come forward as part of the council’s £1bn regeneration of the town centre.
A planing application will be submitted imminently. Pending consent, construction on the site will begin towards the end of 2019.
Lyndon Forshaw, managing director of Forshaw, said: “The site is located at an important gateway to the town which has been derelict for years and in need of the regeneration opportunity this development proposal provides.
“We anticipate this will be the first of several schemes to come forward in coming months and years which will ultimately help to revive the town centre economy.”
Ebrahim Adia, deputy leader of Bolton Council, said: “This development will provide top-quality homes and ultimately create more footfall to help shops and businesses nearby. It will deliver much-needed homes on a brownfield site helping reduce the pressure on less sustainable locations.
“It demonstrates yet more investor confidence in our strategy and in Bolton’s growing economic position within the city region.”
Bolton Regeneration recently revealed £48m plans for Trinity Gateway, and in January Muse Development released details of its £150m project for a new neighbourhood in Church Wharf.
