Former colleagues have paid tribute to Howard Morgan, a former Savills director who steered the firm’s Manchester office through the 2008 financial crisis, who has died.
After joining the property giant in 1998, Morgan set up the firm’s building consultancy department in the North West, before taking the helm at its Manchester office from 2008 to 2011.
James Evans, head of Savills Manchester, described him as “a highly regarded member of the business, a larger than life character with a huge presence”.

Meanwhile Gary Bulloch, head of building consultancy for Savills Manchester, added: “Howard was held in the highest regard by clients, many of whom worked with him for years. We will continue to build on his legacy – he was hugely supportive to his team members and great company to all in the office.”
Despite overseeing more than 150 staff in Manchester, Morgan’s contribution stretched beyond the North West, added chief executive Mark Ridley, who held the regional post immediately before Morgan. “He contributed so much to the Savills national business,” he said.
“He was a dear friend as well as a terrific colleague and I had great pride handing over my head of office role to Howard, whom I trusted implicitly,” Ridley added. “He took the business forward brilliantly and was respected by both clients and colleagues alike.”
