Former Hammerson MD joins Crosstown as chief exec

Artisan doughnut retailer Crosstown has appointed Howard Ebison, formerly managing director of asset management at Hammerson, as its new chief executive.

Ebison joined Hammerson as operations director in 2019, before his promotion to managing director of asset management in 2021. He left the REIT in November last year.

Ebison told EG that physical locations remain “an important part of the strategy” for Crosstown. The company’s recent openings include a location in Bristol, and its next site launch will be in Bath.

He added that 35% of revenue comes from digital channels, including direct-to-customer pre-orders across the UK and on-demand activities fulfilled from its network.

“We will continue to grow our national network across high streets, premium retail destinations and transport hubs in locations that work with our brand and product range,” he said. “I’m looking forward to working with the whole team to understand the business and help it move forwards into its next chapter.”

The hire comes after Foresight Group invested £3m for a minority stake in Crosstown at the end of 2021.
