Eva’s positive influence on our organisation is fuelling our younger employees
COMMENT: I was part of the leadership team that chose Eva Kiivit to be a candidate for the Future Female Leaders programme. Eva is highly regarded, both internally and externally, and I believe this stems from her ability to take our organisation’s vision and embed it in everything she does.
Eva joined Greystar in 2016, initially as a community manager for our first student development in Lewisham. She subsequently established her reputation in the business by launching several key developments and going on to become a key member of our multifamily operations team.
Eva now manages Greystar-owned assets in the UK and is a driving force for the company, both in developing our brand externally and as an inspiring figure internally.

She was first introduced to Greystar’s innovation on a project in London at the end of 2017. The site’s plan involved moving rooms traditionally used as low-level spaces, such as gyms or dining rooms, and instead putting them at the top of the building so residents could enjoy fabulous views across London. The on-site Greystar team was also purposely integrated with the space for residents to make for a much more interactive customer experience.
Eva saw that through a well-thought-out design, a stronger relationship began to form between residents and onsite team members. The open conversations that happen through daily interactions between residents and staff allow the team to feel pride and interest in their role and ultimately make it more likely that residents would stay with us.
Based on these experiences, Eva saw there could be an opportunity to take this approach one step further and improve the way Greystar operates internally.
Typically, back-office functions and on-site resident teams would be separated, not only physically, but also in their understanding of the role each plays. Working at head office can often mean a disconnect with the customer-facing environment. Similarly, onsite teams can have a tendency to not fully appreciate the vital roles being carried out at a corporate level.
Eva showed great determination in focusing on reducing the gap between the head office and site teams and, in the process, has helped to make Greystar different. She has encouraged teams across the business to meet each other regularly to share stories and get to know how their peers work.
Greystar colleagues began communicating more openly and transparently about what they were doing, the positives and challenges involved in their role, and ultimately helped educate one another.
The level of understanding and respect for the contribution made by all colleagues has hugely increased. As a result, we are all doubly determined to ensure Greystar is as effective as possible, and to ensure we create and maintain a powerful internal culture.
Eva’s positive influence on our organisation is also fuelling the ambitions of our younger employees to strive for change and a better working environment for all.
I admire Eva for inspiring everyone, especially women, in Greystar and for continuing to be someone who embraces our vision in everything she does.
