England’s tallest wind turbine is set to rise above the fringes of Bristol after a successful campaign by the local community.
Planning has been granted for a 150m tall turbine, which will be owned by residents of Lawrence Weston, near the M5 and Severn estuary to the north-west of Bristol.
The residents, which will share the £100,000 pa income, hope to be an inspiration to more communities, while the region’s metro mayor has launched a fund to allow more communities to build their own turbines.
