Elephant and Castle resi-led scheme set for approval

Proposals for a resi-led scheme in Elephant and Castle, submitted by developer Fabrix, have been recommended for approval.

Fabrix plans to deliver 283 student beds and 23 affordable homes across two buildings of six and seven storeys at 182-202 Walworth Road, SE17. The scheme includes more than 5,000 sq ft of retail space and nearly 2,000 sq ft for community use.

The plans would see the part-demolition of the existing building, Chatelain House (pictured), and result in the loss of almost 30,000 sq ft of office and retail space. However, the site has been largely vacant for a number of years.
