The developer plans to transform a 62,000 sq ft brownfield site at 2 Armoury Way, SW18, into two 10-storey towers comprising 434 student beds.
Under the terms of the agreement, 35% of the accommodation will be offered at affordable rates, while 51% of the rooms will be allocated to a university under a nomination agreement.
The scheme will offer 258 student beds in Block A and 176 in Block B, as well as nine new commercial units for businesses and over 12,000 sq ft of light industrial space.
It includes amenities such as cycling facilities and a gym.
The site is located in a gasholder site in the Armoury Way area, a key component of Wandsworth’s recently adopted Local Plan, which has been designated as ideal for a mixed-use redevelopment.
Ian Harrison, projects director at Downing, said: “At Downing, we take pride in creating vibrant and sustainable student communities that suit the wants and needs of students, together with their friends and families, and this scheme is set to be a prime example of this.”
