Dorman Long tower to topple after new secretary scraps listing

The new culture secretary has clashed with Historic England in her first act in the post.

Nadine Dorries has overturned a decision to grant the brutalist Dorman Long tower in Redcar, North Yorkshire, grade II listed status.

The decision will allow Redcar and Cleveland council to go ahead with plans to flatten the 1950s-built coal store.
