Developer acquires Bedford estate to develop 4,000 homes

Strategic land developer Lands Improvement has acquired the freehold of the 1,119-acre Alington Estate in Bedfordshire with a plan to deliver 4,000 homes in the area.

The estate, in Little Barford, has been identified in Bedford Borough Council’s recently published draft local plan.

It is set to benefit from significant investment in transport infrastructure improvements planned for the area. Works include the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet upgrade project, which will see a new road built through the eastern half of the site, as well as the final section of the East West Rail, the new railway line being created between Oxford and Cambridge, which includes options for a new train station on, or to the south, of the site.
