D&D’s new 11,000 sq ft restaurant on the fourth floor will serve a menu of modern brasserie cuisine.
Chairman and chief executive of D&D Des Gunewardena said: “In my view, there is no other city besides London that can match the energy, vibrancy and diversity of the New York dining scene, and we are all incredibly excited to launch a new concept in what we think will become the new heart of Manhattan.”
Keller said: “We are excited to have D&D joining our Hudson Yards community, bringing a taste of its London influence to New York. Restaurants are an integral part of the fabric of any neighborhood, and Hudson Yards – in concept, design and execution – will be an anchor and destination for Manhattan’s West Side.”
Founded by Des Gunewardena and David Loewi in 2006, following a buy out of Conran Restaurants, D&D owns some of the capital’s most celebrated restaurants, including German Gymnasium, Quaglino’s, Le Pont de la Tour, Chelsea’s famous Bluebird and City favourite, Coq d’Argent. It now has a portfolio of 35 restaurants and one hotel in London, and one restaurant in New York – Gustavino’s on the Upper East Side of the city.
Hudson Yards, developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group, is the largest private real estate development in New York. The new neighborhood will be home to more than 100 shops and restaurants – including New York City’s first Neiman Marcus, office space for global firms, luxury flats, 14 acres of public open space, a new 750-seat public school and a 200-bedroom Equinox branded luxury hotel.
