db symmetry submits £73m Wigan logistics plan
Plans for a £73m warehouse development in Wigan have been submitted by db symmetry.
The site, known as symmetry park Wigan, could include 1.4m sq ft of logistics employment space and provide up to 1,650 jobs.
If it gains consent, the park would represent a construction investment of £73m and add £3m a year in business rates payments towards Wigan Council’s income.

Earlier this year, Wigan Council approved the site as suitable for logistics given its access to the M6. It also has said that it does not have sufficient land outside of the Green Belt to meet its employment land needs.
The application follows a period of consultation which included two public drop-in events held in May. Wigan Council is likely to make a decision on the application before the end of the year.
Subject to planning approval, db symmetry propose to develop the first two units speculatively, starting construction in 2019, with the entire scheme slated for completion by 2026.
Andrew Dickman, managing director of db symmetry, said: “We’ve consulted with the local community in preparing a detailed and robust planning application. As a result of the consultation we’ve decided to move our boundary further away from people living in Winstanley, leaving a substantial green landscaped buffer to the north of the site.”
db symmetry is owned by Delancey, which has a 60% stake in the business, and Barwood, which owns the remaining 40%.
In July, the pair began a marketing campaign to sell the £400m logistics platform.
The duo have appointed CBRE, Eastdil Secured and Savills to advise them.
