Cycle to MIPIM: Day 7 – the end of an adventure
While the 2023 edition of the Knight Frank Cycle to MIPIM might only have been six days’ worth of cycling, it definitely felt like a full seven-days adventure.
From the moment we left a snowy Herne Hill on the coach to arrive in northern France to torrential downpours and energy-sapping headwinds and crosswinds, it was a roller coaster.
Everyone had their moments of darkness – however short or long – but every cyclist had to overcome that to carry on to the finish line.

From the moment we left a snowy Herne Hill on the coach to arrive in northern France to torrential downpours and energy-sapping headwinds and crosswinds, it was a roller coaster.
Everyone had their moments of darkness – however short or long – but every cyclist had to overcome that to carry on to the finish line.
They pulled together, pushed together and pedalled together, and during that process dug deep to bring themselves and others around them with them.
Camaraderie comes from the French camarade or “comrade”, meaning “mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together”. Never is this more true than on a Cycle to MIPIM – whether that time is spent on a bike, on the coach, in the bar or with the sports injury therapist or mechanic who is mending your body or your bike (although hopefully not for too long). This is a shared experience that forms long-lasting bonds that extend beyond a first foray or lifetime love of cycling.
