Cycle to MIPIM: Day 1 – snow cancels play
After 15 editions of Cycle to MIPIM, this is the first year since the inaugural ride in 2006 that snow has put paid to riding.
With heavy snow falling in the early hours of Wednesday across the South East, the decision is taken that no one will ride today. It’s disappointing, but the right thing to do for everyone’s safety.

After a more relaxed than planned start to the day, the 82 cyclists are transported to the lunch stop in the golden coach. Some choose to start their carb loading in liquid form before lunch is served. Then it’s back on the coach, Folkestone- and Calais-bound.
It’s not the Day 1 anyone was hoping for, but we’re all here safe in Calais, and ready for Day 2.
