CWM out-of-town team launches firm with Colliers duo
The out-of-town team at retail agency CWM, led by former JLL directors Nick McConnell and Mark Rudman, has set up a new firm alongside Colliers retail capital markets boss Tom Edson and associate director Georgie Griffiths.
The quartet are launching a new boutique practice called Ardent Real Estate, which will offer occupational and investment advice on the sector.
Edson was also co-head of retail at Colliers. He had previously worked at JLL as head of foodstores in the out-of-town retail and leisure team, before joining Colliers in 2016.

Edson said: “I have always prided myself on providing clients with honest, informed advice, direct from the coal face. Having worked together previously, I know Nick and Mark favour the same approach. Combined, in a niche environment, we will be able to offer clients comprehensive expert advice.”
McConnell and Rudman had previously joined CWM in November last year, three months before CBRE struck a deal to take over the niche agent, as revealed by EG.
The news comes after CWM’s retail consulting team, led by equity partner Jonathan De Mello, last week relaunched as a new firm called JDM Retail.
At CWM, the out-of-town, consulting and in-town investment divisions were operations held in joint ventures and were therefore not part of the takeover.
The in-town investment team, which is thought to remain in talks with CBRE and other parties, recently rebranded as Clifton Partnership, signalling that its ties with CWM as a separate entity have ended.
