CSC links up with La Salle to revamp Oxford’s Westgate centre

A Capital Shopping Centres/La Salle Investment Management joint venture has submitted its outline application to Oxford city council for the redevelopment of the Westgate Shopping Centre The Westgate Partnership’s plans would increase the retail space in the city centre from 21,550 sq m (232,000 sq ft) to 39,480 sq m (425,000 sq ft). The proposals include provision for a department store and 33shops, restaurants and rooftop apartments. According to Margaret Howard, communications manager for Capital Shopping Centres: “This application follows many months of consultation with the council as landowner, local groups and the local community. The planning application will go through the statutory 16 week period, and if planning consent is given the scheme will be completed by 2004.” EGi News 17/05/00
