Crowdfunded French chateaux rescuers branded ‘opaque’

A crowdfunding scheme to renovate French chateaux has been accused of being “opaque”.

Dartagnans raises money across the world to “save” heritage sites in France, but has failed to produce accounts, has been accused of keeping a sizeable amount to cover running costs and retains 20% ownership in each site.

Co-founder Romain Delaume refuted claims that the operation lacked transparency, but added: “It’s true that paperwork is not our thing.”
