Crime hotspots across the country are holding back levelling up, Conservative think tank Onward has warned.
A new report highlighted Oldham, Walsall and Clacton as centres where regular antisocial behaviour, violence and intimidation were holding back efforts to improve the town centres.
Onward cited research showing that about 5% of neighbourhoods in the UK are responsible for more than 50% of crime and called for a “hotspot” approach to policing to help tackle the problem.
