EG revealed that Court Collaboration was to acquire the scheme from Calthorpe Estates and U+I for £11m in May. The Birmingham-based developer is in talks with Long Harbour to forward-fund the scheme to add to its Way of Life portfolio.
Alex Neale, managing director at Court Collaboration, said: “As well as delivering stunning properties, Court Collaboration is committed to creating developments that support local communities and their economies.”
The plans have been designed by Glancy Nicholls. Court Collaboration will work with Calthorpe Estates to bring the site forward as part of a 10.7-acre mixed-use scheme, which will also include up to 500,000 sq ft of offices.
The scheme will be set around a new public square and will retain the Grade II listed buildings fronting Hagley Road.
Court Collaboration will use a range of modern methods of construction with a focus on sustainability. Work is expected to begin next spring, with completion expected by Q2 2022.
New Garden Square will be Court Collaboration’s third build-to-rent project in the region, following its £160m One Eastside for Greystar and the £350m Stone Yard development at Tony Gallagher’s Bullring Trading Estates.
Court Collaboration was founded in 2011 by former Wragge & Co real estate lawyer Anthony McCourt. The residential development company has a portfolio of £1bn of assets across some 15 sites.
