It has worked up plans for a 48-storey tower comprising 454 flats and 10,000 sq ft of amenity space on a site neighbouring its £350m Stone Yard development.
Architect Glancy Nicholls has designed a contemporary signature building that will front High Street Deritend, to the south of Digbeth.
Court Collaboration acquired the site at the start of the year. The Irish Centre is to relocate to a 12-acre site at the former Stadium Club on Wheelers Lane and Court Collaboration is working to ensure it retains a presence in the area.
The developer will launch an online public consultation prior to lodging finalised plans with Birmingham City Council.
Chief executive Anthony McCourt said: “Especially in these unprecedented times of uncertainty, milestones and city skyline aspirations such as this gives confidence to our city as a whole, that, working together, we can all create a future to be truly proud of.”
Birmingham City Council leader Ian Ward added: “The proposals for the former Irish Centre are a further sign of sustained confidence in Birmingham as the city continues to evolve and ready itself for a truly exciting future.”
Court Collaboration has a portfolio of 15 developments across Birmingham, Leeds, Sutton Coldfield and Wolverhampton with circa 7,000 flats on site or at planning stages.
These include the £160m One Eastside next to the HS2 Curzon Street Station, which is set to be Birningham’s first residential skyscraper, and the £100m New Garden Square development in Edgbaston on land acquired from the Calthorpe Estates.
