Council buys Burnley shopping centre

Burnley Council has acquired Charter Walk Shopping Centre from Tristan Capital and Addington Capital, for £20.7m. The vendors previously instructed Savills to sell the 280,000 sq ft centre and neighbouring asset Curzon Square for more than £25.6m.  Charter Walk’s tenants include Boots, Wilko, Home Bargains and JD Sports. The complex also includes a below-ground car park. Council leader Afrasiab Anwar said: “Burnley Council launched its Town Centre & Canalside Masterplan in 2018, and improving the retail and leisure offer in the town was a key priority within that strategy.  “Our town centre plays an important role to residents, businesses and visitors.
