Britain’s burgeoning café culture is still full of beans, according to a survey which found that three coffee shops are opening around the country every day.
Unrelenting demand for flat whites and Americanos has taken the number of outlets to their highest level.
There are now more than 24,000, with forecasters anticipating continued growth. According to Allegra Group, a consultancy, 1,215 coffee shops opened last year — a mixture of independents and large chains — and the sector contributed £9.6bn to the economy, a 7.3% increase on the year before.
