Co-op in expansion mode

The Co-op is to open more shops this year as it targets a greater share of Britain’s convenience market.

The food and funerals co-operative said it planned to acquire new sites for Co-op shops, more than double its 38 franchise stores and open 400 new shops under its Nisa brand.

The Co-op operates almost 2,400 food stores and more than 800 funeral homes, and provides products to over 5,000 other stores.
