Chief execs given their marching orders
The chief executives of the four biggest UK REITs will step up next month to raise money to help end youth homelessness.
SEGRO’s David Sleath, Landsec’s Rob Noel, British Land’s Chris Grigg and Hammerson’s David Atkins are taking part in Steptober, property’s first industry-wide step challenge.
The winner of the challenge will be the chief executive who records the most steps during October. Each will be raising money for LandAid, with the loser making a further donation to the charity.

David Atkins, Hammerson
“This is such a great initiative for the industry to do their bit to support LandAid, while taking part in some fun and inspiring challenges. I’m looking forward to the healthy competition between David, Rob and Chris as we help raise awareness.
“Hammerson is a big supporter of LandAid. I am looking forward to personally supporting them throughout the month of October and will be encouraging colleagues and contacts to sign up too.”
Chris Grigg, British Land
“LandAid brings the property industry together so collectively we can all help people who desperately need accommodation.
“I’m taking part in Steptober, which will help raise money for this brilliant cause while improving participants’ wellbeing. It’s a great reminder to move more!”
Rob Noel, Landsec
“I’m looking forward to a healthy Steptober, some banter, and supporting LandAid.”
David Sleath, SEGRO
“I am excited to be a part of Steptober and am looking forward to the challenge!
“SEGRO is a proud and long-standing supporter of LandAid, and I am personally very pleased to be able to help motivate the property industry to get involved, I know that quite a few of my colleagues at SEGRO have also accepted the challenge.
“So, if you are considering it, then I would urge you to sign up today – every step we take will help to end youth homelessness.”
Whether you’re a seasoned marathon-runner or a property potato, anyone can take part in Steptober. All you need are three colleagues to join you, and a smartphone.
And like the chief executives, make sure you lay down a challenge to your peers to take the most steps and raise the most money.
