Charing Cross office set for retrofit
Estates & Agency Group has been given the green light for the refurbishment and extension of an office block on Charing Cross Road, WC2.
Camden Council approved the addition of two storeys to Flitcroft House through a delegated decision. The plans will create 15,662 sq ft of workspace.
The existing five-storey commercial building, built in 1888, will be refurbished, restored and retrofitted to grade-A standard. The Damion Marcus Burrows Architects-designed scheme will target an EPC A rating and is expected to be fossil-fuel free and net zero-ready.

The Victorian features will be restored, including the original brick façade, and the two additional floors will be built to reflect its 19th-century design.
Damion Burrows, managing director of DMBA, said: “The result will be a rare thing: An office building that combines authentic character with the highest standards of contemporary design, sustainability and wellbeing.”
Albany Foot, group development director at E&A Group, said: “Our vision for Flitcroft House is to create an ESG-ready headquarters building in a neighbourhood that will attract and inspire talent. Our proactive approach, working closely with Camden, has resulted in the building achieving planning through a delegated decision, which is unusual for any major project in central London.”
LDG and Edward Charles have been appointed as letting agents for the building.
