Chancerygate launches charity to drive diversity in real estate

Developer Chancerygate has launched a charitable foundation to help black and minority ethnic students build careers in real estate.

Chairman Andrew Johnson, who has established the Chancerygate Foundation with his wife, said the foundation’s mission is “addressing the lack of diversity in the UK property industry”.

The foundation will offer a scholarship programme providing bursaries to allow students access to RICS-accredited courses at higher-level education establishments. Johnson cited data showing that just 1% of the 35,306 RICS members who qualified in 2020 were from an African, Caribbean or “other” background.
