Cavalry charge success for Inland Homes
Inland Homes has won a resolution to grant planning permission for its Cavalry Barracks scheme in Hounslow, west London.
The scheme, the company’s fifth tie up with the Ministry of Defence, will comprise 1,525 homes and around 270,000 sq ft of commercial space.
The £600m development is Inland’s largest scheme with the MoD, after it identified the site in early 2020, submitting planning in March 2021.

Nish Malde, interim chief executive, said: “The historical significance, location and scale of the Cavalry Barracks make this an exceptional brownfield site and we are delighted to have worked with the London Borough of Hounslow to have secured a resolution to grant planning permission on behalf of the project’s investor.”
Inland’s asset management division has been pursuing the development on behalf of a third-party project investor.
The group has received £19.5m in fees so far under its asset management model, in return for land and planning expertise and the management of the project.
Full planning is now subject to signing a section 106 agreement, which Inland is currently negotiating with Hounslow Council.
The 36.7-acre former barracks and stables is one of the largest undeveloped brownfield sites in London. As well as new-build housing, the development will retain and regenerate 14 Grade II listed and nine locally listed buildings and create 10.6 acres of open space.
