More than half of the jobs put at risk by the collapse of Carillion have been saved as suppliers have bought up the company’s contracts.
As many as 873 jobs were secured recently, taking the total number to 9,946 out of a possible 18,000, more than five times the number of jobs that officially have been lost.
Just over 1,800 staff have been made redundant, 97 of them in the past week, according to the Official Receiver.
