Capital & Regional appoints former Capco SID as non-exec
Shopping centre REIT Capital & Regional has appointed former Capco senior independent director Gerry Murphy as a non-executive director.
Murphy will join the REIT’s audit, nominations and remuneration committees. He will take over as audit committee chairman from Ian Krieger, effective from the company’s annual general meeting on 3 June.
Krieger will stand down from the board on that date, having served his full nine-year term as an independent director of the company.

Murphy is a non-executive director at Currys. He is also a non-executive board member at the Department of Health and Social Care, chairing its audit and risk committee, and is a co-opted member of the NHS England audit and risk assurance committee.
He was SID at Capco for more than five years, until 2020. Before that, he was a partner at Deloitte, as well as a board member and chairman of the accountancy giant’s audit committee.
Prior to that, Murphy was chairman of the audit and assurance faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
